Key factors allowing Hitler to become Chancellor by 1933:-
1) Depression following the Wall Street Crash 1929 - USA recelled loans and Germany's economy suffered badly - high unemployment around 6-7 Million. See graph.
2) People lost faith in Weimar and democracy - started to turn to extreme parties like Nazis and Communists
3) Communist Threat - people feared a communist take over like in Russia especially middle classes and business/industry
4) People left a loss of traditional values under the Weimar e.g. changes in film/art/music etc
5) Nazi campaigning - offered 'order out of chaos' speeches of Hitler, targeting scapegoats, image/strength of SS/SA
6) Nazis disrupted Reichstag
7) Hindenburg and Von papen believed they could appoint Hitler, gain the support he had and control him - see temporary triangle - they were very wrong.
